A senior developer on retainer, not a ticket queue in a different timezone.
Most maintenance plans are automated update bots with a logo. When something actually breaks, a plugin conflict at 2 a.m. before your product launch, you discover the plan doesn't include "that". Mine does, because the person answering is the same developer who can fix it.

The approach
Filed under Growth & care. Everything that keeps a live site fast, safe and climbing.
Every care plan includes staged updates (tested before they touch production), daily off-site backups, uptime and security monitoring, and a monthly report in plain English. And because I keep client volume deliberately low, response time stays under 24 hours, usually under 4.

What the engagement includes
06 deliverables · all in the quoted price
01The headline deliverable
Safe, staged updates
Core, theme and plugin updates tested on staging before deployment, weekly.
Daily off-site backups
Stored outside your host with quarterly restore drills, a backup you've never restored is a rumor.
24/7 uptime & security monitoring
Downtime and file-change alerts routed straight to me, any hour.
Monthly dev time included
Every plan includes hands-on developer hours for fixes and small improvements.
Emergency response
Site down or hacked? Priority queue, immediate triage, fixed-cost recovery.
One-off bug fixes
No plan required: fixes start at $50, complex rescues and conflict untangling run up to $1,200, always quoted first.
How it runs
Same four beats on every engagement, this one included. No discovery-call theater.
01
Brief in plain language
Describe the project the way you'd say it out loud. Links, deadlines and a rough budget all help.
02
Written quote in one business day
A fixed range and a recommendation, plus an honest note if this service isn't the right fit for it.
03
Build on a private staging link
You watch progress live and give feedback in plain words. No ticket system required.
04
Launch, then 30 days of support
Fixes and tweaks are included while the site settles in. After that, you choose what ongoing care looks like.
Honest answers first

Q1What does a one-off fix cost?
Bug fixes start at $50 for isolated issues, a broken layout, a misfiring form, a plugin conflict. Deeper problems that need real forensics or partial rebuilds run up to $1,200. Either way you get a fixed price before I touch anything.
Q2What happens when a plugin update breaks the site?
On my plans it breaks the staging copy instead, I fix or roll back there, and production never sees the problem. That is the difference between staged updates and auto-updates.
Q3Do I have to host with you?
No, I work on your hosting and your accounts. You keep full ownership of everything. I'll recommend better hosting if yours is holding the site back, but it's never a requirement.
Q4Is there a contract lock-in?
Month to month, cancel anytime, and the retainer itself adjusts to your workload: scale hours up for a busy quarter, back down after. Retainers only survive if the service is worth keeping, which is how it should be.
