Q1ACF free or ACF Pro, do I need the license?
For anything beyond basic fields, Pro. Repeaters, flexible content, options pages, galleries and ACF blocks are the features that transform the admin, and they're all Pro. The license costs less than one hour of fighting a workaround.
Q2Do you use CPT UI or register post types in code?
In code by default, it's version-controlled and survives plugin cleanups. CPT UI is fine for sites where a non-developer needs to manage post types later, and I'll set it up that way when that's the real requirement.
Q3Can you untangle our existing field mess?
Yes, inherited sites with 40 unorganized field groups are a specialty. I audit what's actually used, consolidate into a coherent model, and migrate the content across with scripts, not retyping.
